\nThe nine\u2011month FEED will define the design of a Tower Offloading Unit (TOU) enabling CO\u2082 carriers to moor offshore and safely transfer liquefied CO\u2082 for injection into permanent geological CO2-storage. Subject to a Final Investment Decision (FID), the project is expected to progress into the full EPC phase by late 2026.
This contract marks a significant step forward in the CO\u2082 transport infrastructure to support large\u2011scale industrial decarbonization.
Building on IMODCO’s long-standing expertise in jettyless offshore loading systems, the FEED will define a CO\u2082\u2011ready TOU concept designed for the harsh conditions of the North Sea. The engineering phase integrates recent development work, including advanced marine simulations and operational assessments tailored to offshore CO\u2082 handling.
The project contributes to the broader development of offshore CO\u2082 transport and storage solutions—an important enabler for industrial decarbonization in Europe. It also underscores IMODCO’s contribution to SBM Offshore’s track record in delivering reliable, safe and pioneering offshore energy infrastructure.
The TOU will have 3 main functions:
